Lab Values
In the Kohler Proteostasis Lab, we hold a few core values close to our hearts - responsibility, trust, reliability, and openness. These values form the foundation of our daily work and collaboration. We believe in taking ownership of our projects, supporting one another, and ensuring that our work is rock-solid in terms of reliability. Furthermore, we cherish open communication and the sharing of ideas and knowledge because that's how we collectively learn and grow. Our lab is also committed to promoting inclusiveness and maintaining a discrimination-free environment where everyone feels valued and respected. In our weekly group meetings, we aim to create a safe place where every team member can openly discuss challenges, share ideas, and receive constructive feedback.

And let's not forget the fun and passion that science brings.
We're all about embracing the excitement of discovery and celebrating every victory along the way.

As a new member of our group, I encourage you to fully embrace our team's values and actively participate in maintaining our positive and collaborative atmosphere. Your perspective is invaluable, so please feel free to share your feedback and suggestions. When you encounter challenges, I trust that you'll not only identify the issues but also bring forth potential solutions. Taking charge of your project's timeline and striving to achieve the milestones we set is a significant step toward your success.
Mentoring Philosophy
As a mentor, my aim is to assist my team members in their growth and provide guidance on approaching research questions with a critical mindset. Rather than merely answering questions, I encourage you to develop problem-solving skills by asking the right questions. As you become more independent, you'll have the freedom to suggest new directions and pursue your ideas. Our weekly group meetings are an ideal platform for exploring fresh perspectives and fostering critical thinking among all team members. I'm here to support and guide you, and I'm excited to see you take ownership and responsibility for your research, consistently challenging your hypotheses as you grow.
Throughout your time in my lab, I will be your primary point of contact for tracking project progress. I maintain an open-door policy on weekdays, offering support when you face challenges. You can expect my regular presence at our weekly group meetings, where you'll receive constructive feedback from both myself and fellow group members. In line with our core lab values, I am committed to meeting established timelines. For writing projects, we will have frequent check-ins to discuss progress, and I will provide feedback on your drafts at prearranged milestones.
